RAAF Base Williamtown GSE Shelter Refurbishment

The works include replacing the existing roof, upgrading roller shutter systems and resealing workshop flooring. With airfield adjacent constraints and live base operations, the project requires coordinated staging, appropriate access management and compliance with Defence workplace, environmental and quality requirements.

RAAF Williams Demolition Works - Point Cook & Laverton

Project overview

The RAAF Williams Demolition Works project involves the removal of eleven redundant Defence buildings located across RAAF Laverton and RAAF Point Cook. The buildings, many dating back to the World War II era, were vacant, unmaintained and no longer required for Defence capability. The project delivers a coordinated decommissioning, demolition and environmental reinstatement program across both bases. Works included the safe removal of hazardous materials, heritage documentation where required, environmental management controls and service disconnection. The project was delivered within a live Defence environment, requiring strict security compliance, detailed planning and careful coordination with Base stakeholders, EMOS and Defence project representatives. Following demolition, all sites were reinstated to safe, clean and serviceable conditions with levels matched to surrounding ground and soft landscaping applied to blend with the natural environment.

Russell Offices R4 Ablutions Remediation

The Russell R4 Ablutions Remediation Project forms part of Defence’s ongoing asset upgrade and facilities improvement program across the Russell Office precinct. The project responds to outdated amenities within the R4 building, delivering improved functionality, compliance, hygiene and user experience within a highly operational Defence environment. The refurbishment works were undertaken within an active government facility, requiring close coordination with Base personnel, controlled internal access, stringent security protocols and careful staging to avoid disruption to tenants and Defence capability. The project objective is to deliver safe, modern and compliant ablutions that align with Defence standards while achieving “zero harm” through rigorous health, safety and environmental controls.

Russell Office R3 REP Hub Refurbishment

Project overview

The EST10858 R3 ERP Hub Refurbishment project delivers a purpose-built Business Integration Hub to support Defence’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transformation program. Located within the Russell R3 Ground Floor facility, the project provides a modernised, flexible environment designed to enhance cross functional collaboration, executive engagement and daily operational efficiency. The refurbishment upgrades key working, collaboration and ICT enabled spaces including a Co Design Lab, open plan office zones, and an SES Band 1 executive office. The works include architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICT/AV, and hydraulic upgrades, as well as compliance with Defence heritage, environmental, safety in design and security requirements. Delivered within a live Defence precinct, the project required careful staging, stakeholder coordination, and adherence to strict access, security and operational controls.

Scope

Finalise 90% design to construction issue and provide design certification
Demolition of 8 existing detached brick dwellings and replacing with new double storey accommodation block comprising 14 units
Parking, landscaping and associated infrastructure, adjacent structure, internal demolition
New building and fit-out works including new windows and doors, floor & wall finishes, joinery, fixtures and fitments, new ceilings and partitions, fixed and loose furnishings
Providing design solution to satisfy BCA with regards to DDA compliance
Completion of a significant 5000m2 asbestos ground capping solution including rainwater harvesting & irrigation system, landscaping
General external refurbishment to Jervis Bay Primary School & pre-school

Key Considerations

Design & Construct contract so detailed design co-ordination including shop drawings for precast concrete elements
Maintaining and protection of Flora and Fauna including Kangaroo Management Plan and Erosion & Sediment controls
Maintaining waste register for all disposed materials and crossing border from ACT to NSW
Structural demolition for removal of 8 dwellings
Managing safety for high risk activities in demolition stage and beyond and Hazardous
Material removal
Managing Earthworks in accordance with EPA Guidelines
Managing security on base and providing security escorts for sub-contractors
Driving Indigenous Participation by engaging with Wreck Bay and local communities to provide employment opportunities
