Project overview
The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) Yurauna Learning Centre at Bruce Campus has been transformed into a landmark educational and cultural facility for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. This purpose-built centre was designed to provide a culturally safe, inclusive, and modern environment that reflects Connection to Country and celebrates the identity and aspirations of the local Indigenous community.
CIT Yurauna has long served as a vital hub for Indigenous education. This project elevated that role by providing a purpose-built facility that supports learning, creativity, cultural practice and community gathering. Indoor and outdoor spaces, including yarning areas, Indigenous gardens, shaded learning zones and a fire pit, reinforce cultural storytelling and intergenerational knowledge sharing.
The project combined expert construction management with deep engagement from Indigenous leaders to ensure the design and delivery honoured cultural values while meeting the highest standards of functionality and compliance.
